The Ohio Open Records law enacted in 1963 describes what records are available, what agencies have open records, and the fees. Records are those kept by public offices and records of non-profit and for-profit private schools. Anyone can request open public records; you do not need a statement of purpose.

The Ohio Open Records Act allows a requester to file a public record request however they want. They can choose how they receive copies via mail, pick-up, or email. A person can file an Open Records request online, in person, by phone, email, or by mail.
